August Championship Tournament Format
The tournament is open to all Generals League members, regardless of their skill level. Players who have already won two monthly championships are no longer allowed to join to give other players a chance to compete in our year end tournament which is the Player Of The Year.
Group Stage
The tournament is scheduled to commence on September 16, starting with the group stage. The game schedule will be determined based on the agreed upon time among the players. In the event that players are unable to reach a consensus, the tournament organizer can provide assistance. It is important that players complete all their matches before the 11 pm cutoff time; otherwise, the default rule will apply.
All games will be played using the Mawkins Game Of The Generals mobile app. Registered participants will be divided into four groups. Group seedings will be determined by the player app rank, Generals League player ratings and our familiarity with the players skill.
In the group stage, each group will engage in a single round-robin format, where every player within the group competes against each other once. Victorious players will receive 2 points, a draw will grant 1 point, and no points will be awarded for a loss. The top two players with the highest point totals from each group will advance to quarterfinals round in a cross-over race to 4 points match format. In case of a tie, game played between the tied player will determine who will advance. If their head to head game is also a tie, then both will play a match until a clear winner comes out.
Quarter Finals
In the quarterfinals, the first-place player from Group A will face off against the second-place player from Group B, while the top player from Group B will compete against the second-place player from Group A. The same arrangement applies to Group C and Group D. All quarterfinal matches will be played as a race to 4 points match series, and the winners of each series will advance to the semifinals.
Semi-Finals and Championship Stage
The opponents in the semifinals and finals stage will be determined by the outcomes of the quarter finals round. Similar to the quarterfinals, each player will participate in a race to 4 point match during these stages. Where a win is 2 points and draw is 1 point.

Game Played Reporting
Disconnection/Internet Connectivity Issue - The game begins when any player makes the first move. If a player got disconnected during the game and fails to reconnect, it will be counted as a loss, resulting in their opponent being declared the winner.
Player App Settings - All games are recommended to be played with the following time settings. It's also important to select "Tournament Rules" and "Enable Chat" option to ensure that the default tournament rules within the app are followed. Rest of the options are optional.
If for some reason the recommended game settings were not followed, and the game has been completed, our advice is for the two players to discuss the game's outcome and decide whether to keep it as is or play it again. If, for some reason, they cannot agree, the following applies.
1. If the person who created the game loses, then the result will stand.
2. If the person who created the game wins, then the game has to be replayed.
Classification Of Players - All players will be categorized into three groups based on a combination of factors: their rankings in the Mawkins app, their ratings in the Generals League, and our assessment of their skill level. These categories are as follows: Class A, reserved for expert players in the game; Class B, intended for advanced players who demonstrate potential and a deep understanding of the game; and finally, Class C, designated for new players and those who are in the early stages of learning the game's complexities.
Player Group Seedings - All registered players will be categorized into four groups before the tournament commences. The objective is to ensure an equitable distribution of Class A and Class B players among all four groups. We anticipate the participation of 28 players, with an even allocation of 7 players to each group. However, if the number of participants cannot be evenly divided by four, the Class C players will be randomly assigned to the groups at the discretion of the tournament organizers.
30 Moves Rule - For our tournament, 30 moves rule applies. For those who are not aware the rule was put into place by the game inventor himself. Basically what it state is that “If no challenge is made after 30 complete moves from the start of the game, the player with more pieces past the mid-point of the board wins the match. if no piece has gone beyond the mid-point, or if there is an equal number of pieces beyond the mid-point, the game is automatically declared a draw.
Players Conduct - Generals League encourage all players to observe fair play during the tournament. Any player found cheating, taking advantage of tournament rule loopholes and other un-sportsman behavior will face disciplinary action.
Game Defaults -Players are encourage to start their games earlier than the stipulated tournament starting time if both players are available. However, no game results will be accepted after the stipulated cutoff time. Tournament organizers will strictly implement this and will not consider any reason behind the default. Kindly be aware of the timings. As a sanction for those who violated this rule you will banned to join the next two tournaments but will be eligible to join again after the ban period.
Default Player Game Result - In the group stage, when a player voluntarily default a game, all their remaining games at that stage of the tournament will be voided (0 points).
Dispute Resolution - Our rules may not be perfect, and players may find loopholes in them. In the event of a player dispute, the tournament organizer will strive to resolve it as fairly as possible, and the organizer's decision will be final.
Registration Fee - Our goal is to create a sustainable tournament, and to achieve this, we will be collecting a registration fee. The registration fee will cover the cash prizes for the winners, and any remaining balance will be used to finance miscellaneous expenses such as our face-to-face tournament, an emergency fund to cover future tournaments in case the registration fee collected is not enough, and other related expenses. We will release a financial statement to ensure transparency and show how the registration fee is used.
